Ironical

HAPPY NAVRATRI TO ALL.

Yet again I am posting a post. And yet again I am late in doing this. I must change this habit.

The navratris have started and are being celebrated all over the country. I need NOT tell anyone that these navratris are considered to be the MOST pious days among Hindus. It is the GODDESS SHAKTI in her 9 forms who is worshipped.

FINE. GOOD.

But look who is worshipping the Goddess. A lady who worships her so that her daugher-in-law shall be 'blessed' with a male child.

Take this. There is a group of bhakts in my area, who would NOT leave any chance at a crowded place to brush against the body of a female. Boys in this group seem to carry permanent lust in their eyes. I wonder whether they do carry the same feelings for their own sisters and mothers. And this so called group of bhakts is 'organising' a jagaran of MAA DURGA. Give me a break.

There is this man in my locality who would beat his wife at any instance. Abusing must accompany the beatings. He has become a saint these days. Chanting Jai Mata Di.

I feel so helpless.

It is NOT that good people do not observe navratris. But then good becomes a relative word when we make comparisons. What is the use of worshipping a female deity, when our females do not feel safe while travelling in our cities? What is the bloody use of observing fasts when female foetuses can be found in backyards, and that too in scores?

I know I should NOT be getting too much negative. I should be sharing good thoughts on the holy occasion. And that is why I have NOT spoken for other issues like dowry deaths, molestation, discrimination, and numerous crimes that are committed against the fairer sex every single second.

I am not able to think of remedies to these problems. I really feel bad and helpless. Confronting the culprits at the metro or in a bus is something that does not kill demon once and for all.

I can only wish that Every single girl is allowed to take birth, achieve equal opportunities.

Happy Navratris.

i tell u its the second time i m writing a comment 2 this blog. Ist time it was wasted due to webpage error. first time it was a better start than this one.
Yes, wht u rote is quite a drastic and ironic truth that our society denies to agree with. i too feel the way u wrote. that fact that everybody from hi/her deep inside kwns but negates to accept coz most probably there r 90% chances that belong to the same group of people that u hv discussd in ur blog.
I must admit that i too was sharing the same ideas vid kuldeep a day b4 yest that he quite agreed with.
U CAN'T BCOM A SAINT BY JUST WORSHIPING THE GODESS 9 days a year and in rest of (356) keep on being a coward beast with those lusty-busty eyes longing to see soemthing F*****. thats the stigma that v hav to live with 4 the time being but i m sure as the time progresses people vil b able to understand the rite meaning of education and liberty.
Well done kunal! this is ur one of the best blogs till date.
And dear
A VERY HAPPY B'DAY TO U.
MAY U LIVE LONG AND STRONG.

Happy belated b'de Kunal.
Good irony pointed out there.
I made shirkhurma today -on the EID and was waiting for someone to call for an Iftar party. But a nice feast of your article on Navratra came as a good surprise. We, the young generation have to be sensitive n alert-like u r to keep humanity alive or sins under the name of Gods n Goddesses will prevail. To b aware is the first step of any action.Small things do make a difference so keep up the good work.

absolutely right kunal. it is true what ogres exist in the society. i've heard enough and more about the madness lurking in the darkness of dandiya raas. yes, the men are to be blamed. but these days, take a look at the girls. they are ready to do stuff too...at the drop of a hat.

the navratris are supposed to be pujas for Goddess in her three forms viz., Kali, to stomp out impurities from OUR minds, Lakshmi, to appease the Goddess of prosperity and good fortunes for whom we are ready if our impurities are removed off our minds, and finally, Saraswati, the benign Goddess of wisdom, the one who leads to enlightenment.
such a beautiful tradition......so much meaning....but so little regard to it all these days. Nowadays, festive times have become times of tension, hatred, anger and resentment, show off and pomp. very little pious feeling exists. Why do something for the sake of doing? Why not be pious with a pure heart? O Goddess, we all seek Your blessings for the wisdom to realize this and be wise in our thoughts and deeds.

take care.
